Boxing maintains a different charm, such as cycling and marathon running. In some special cases, sports discipline has become heroic modern narratives—men in Bermuda shorts, with coloured shirts and bandanas or hats with visors. Marching men, hovering on the pedals or inside a ring.
The ring where the fight took place is the "Tawaraya Ring", designed by Masanori Umeda for the visionary Memphis group. An element of design also intended as a bed, sofa, or tatami for the tea ceremony—a paradigmatic symbol for Memphis.
In the middle, there is an epic clash between two opposite and complementary views in the spotlight, which in the 1980s challenged each other openly, in what may be considered to have been a cultured season for architecture: "still highly intellectualized and bearer of a theoretical vision ".
In the background: an audience of outcasts, smoky, noir, screams: "Rock 'Em Sock' Em"!
